Description: FOR PLVE TRAINEES ONLY. A whole day course in the clinical skills lab at Bristol Dental Hospital covering the theory of Crown, Bridge and Onlay,preparation. The course will include a hands on element to update and revisit the preparations. This course is limited to PLVE dentists and numbers will be limited due to Social Distancing within the lab. The course will be led by Musaab Siddiqui who is a Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow and Honorary Consultant in the Restorative Department at the University of Bristol, as well as working in general dental practice.

Description: Currently GPs receive little training in the diagnosis and management of oro-dental disease and its management. This day is aimed at providing delegates with an understanding of the diagnosis and management of dental pain and the rationale for use of antibiotics and management of severe orofacial infection. Description: Rick Kerr (Senior Surgeon) and the team from Exeter, will be joining us virtually for a unique opportunity to offer help to those of us that find minor oral surgery challenging. This is the first of a two part course, for no more than ten dentists. This small group will enable the learning needs of all participants to be addressed. Rick is happy to look at radiographs and discuss cases with participants. Over the two sessions we will be considering what is appropriate in general practice, important patient and medical factors, practical challenges, key instruments and the principles of sectioning teeth, elevating roots and when and how to raise a flap. COVID has changed practice for all of us, where triage prioritises face to face care for dental emergencies. For some of us, this has been challenging especially for those of us with limited clinical experience.

Description: This is great opportunity to improve theory and techniques on providing conservative anterior restorations using the principles of Destination Dentistry. Professor Brian Millar will demonstrate how to use direct composite, not just to restore teeth but to design, then make the changes to the smile. The course covers how to assess and design improved aesthetics to correct colour, shape and the occlusion. He will then explain how to apply the Destination Driven Dentistry approach to later upgrade to layered composite restorations or ceramic veneers. Table top hands on elements include practice in building up composites and layering techniques to design anterior restorations, and making and using stents to facilitate destination dentistry.

Description: This blended learning course covers the aetiology and management of all types of tooth wear, from diagnosis and prevention through monitoring and management. Techniques for intervention use the latest range of adhesive aesthetic materials as well as traditional methods. Hands-on sessions in the clinical skills lab include tooth build-ups with a range of direct and indirect techniques. Teaching covers the management of sensitivity, aesthetics and function as well as occlusal change in vertical and horizontal dimensions. Splints are discussed then made and adjusted in the hands-on table top session. The blended learning includes 6 hours of CPD via webinars and comprehensive course notes in advance of a 6 hour CPD practical day held at the Exeter Dental Education Facility.
