The programme works through three stages of mentoring, highlighting the skills that underpin effective practice, using a mixture of taught inputs, demonstration by tutors, small group skills practice, group discussions, and pairs work. The model used for training is applicable to both managing problems and developing opportunities. It is widely used in both public and private sector organisations. Description: 2 days of theory and hands-on: treatment planning, tooth preparation, impression technique, temporisation, try-in and cementation, approaches to managing tooth wear, the heavily restored dentition and fixed and removable reconstructions. Best practice in the preparation of crowns, veneers, porcelain onlays, bridges will be demonstrated and learners will prepare a variety of plastic teeth for full and partial coverage crowns, fixed & resin bonded bridgework and veneers. There is a 1:4 teaching ratio which facilitates feedback and support. Both days must be attended. NOTE the bur list which is specified in the "Additional Info" section. THESE ARE NOT SUPPLIED, but we will have equivalent Diatech sets available. Hot drinks and water will be available on arrival, but catering is not provided. You can bring your own, or a snack lunch and drinks may be purchased in the nearby main hospital building. We will start promptly at 09:00 each day, please allow ample time for your journey and parking, particularly if travelling across Slough from the M4. USE ENTRANCE 4/ Car park C (£8.50 a day); Slough Station is 20 minutes away by taxi, or about 30 minutes by local bus. The Postgraduate Centre is a low 60s style brown brick building, and is located 50m to the right when you use Entrance 4 (for the car park, drive straight ahead).
