Description: Acupuncture is another technique whereby diseases can be either cured or alleviated - or put in other words – an extra tool in a dentist’s toolbox. It has been known in China for the last 3-4000 years and the technique has been able to demonstrate results that even today are surprising. In dentistry it is used to treat conditions from TMJ pain to trigeminal neuralgia and prominent gag reflex. This is a one day introduction course on how you can start to use acupuncture in your dental practice safely to the benefit of your patients. David Johnson is a Wolfson Foundation Scholar graduating from Cardiff Dental School in 2001, with a research background. He is currently working in the CDS mainly treating children and special needs patients. He previously held an Honorary Clinical Lecturer position in Oral Medicine at Cardiff Dental School. He is fully registered with the British Dental Acupuncture Society, and has been using acupuncture as an adjunct to dental treatment since 2003. He is actively involved in practice based research and audit within the areas of paediatric dentistry and dental acupuncture.
