Description: This course covers the management of all teeth damaged by trauma, caries, wear and cracked tooth syndrome. It will cover diagnosis and assessment of options through to management. Techniques for intervention utilise a range of materials to replace missing tooth tissue, including the use of adhesive materials as well as traditional methods. Replacement of missing teeth is discussed. This course is in the popular blended learning format with 3 hrs of webinar and coursebook sent to delegates a month in advance of the all-day face to face session. Hands-on sessions include tooth preparation, the use of posts and cores, dentine replacement materials, the use of adhesive bridges, direct and indirect composites. The face to face day will be part seminar and consolidate and build on the resources already supplied and give an opportunity to try some of the techniques including treatment on models, half the day table top and half the day in the clinical skills lab. This course builds on existing knowledge and is an opportunity to hear about further training opportunities delivered by Prof. Millar and Dr Hussain at KCL. Description: Rick Kerr (Senior Surgeon) and the team from Exeter, will be joining us virtually for a unique opportunity to offer help to those of us that find minor oral surgery challenging. This is the first of a two part course. This small group will enable the learning needs of all participants to be addressed. Rick is happy to look at radiographs and discuss cases with participants. Over the two sessions we will be considering what is appropriate in general practice, important patient and medical factors, practical challenges, key instruments and the principles of sectioning teeth, elevating roots and when and how to raise a flap. COVID has changed practice for all of us, where triage prioritises face to face care for dental emergencies. For some of us, this has been challenging especially for those of us with limited clinical experience.
