Description: This FREE webinar provides an introduction to domestic abuse and explores the links between domestic abuse and the role of the dental team. Dental teams can be the first healthcare professionals someone may see with injuries caused by domestic abuse. On average 75% of injuries inflicted through domestic abuse occur to the head and neck. Dental teams often form long-term relationships with their patients and families, so are in an ideal position to notice changes in someone’s appearance or behaviour and signpost victims towards appropriate support. The session is tailored for the whole team.

Description: Rick Kerr (Senior Surgeon) and the team from Exeter, will be joining us virtually for a unique opportunity to offer help to those of us that find minor oral surgery challenging. This is the first of a two part course. This small group will enable the learning needs of all participants to be addressed. Rick is happy to look at radiographs and discuss cases with participants. Over the two sessions we will be considering what is appropriate in general practice, important patient and medical factors, practical challenges, key instruments and the principles of sectioning teeth, elevating roots and when and how to raise a flap. COVID has changed practice for all of us, where triage prioritises face to face care for dental emergencies. For some of us, this has been challenging especially for those of us with limited clinical experience.

Description: Please join the South West Local Dental Network (LDN) for an evening of free CPD. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet the clinical network team and find out what they've been doing to raise the profile of dentistry and improve oral health in our region. Matthew Jerreat, Chair of the LDN along with our local Clinical Leadership Fellows will be joined by representatives from Managed Clinical Networks (MCNs) in Oral Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, Special Care and Orthodontics. MCNs have worked hard throughout the pandemic to ensure dental teams were kept informed, supported and able to provide a service through the most challenging times. We will be hearing from each MCN about their current priorities and how dental teams can get involved. We will be discussing the Dental Reform Programme and the strategic direction of the South West.
