Description: A hands-on study day to introduce the basic skills of implant supported crown and bridgework. The subject matter will be set at an introductory level. Although the course will be based on the Straumann system, the principles are generic and can be applied to the majority of existing implant systems. The emphasis will be on providing a “hands on” experience utilizing the Straumann training kits and attendance will be limited to twelve candidates. The subject matter will include case assessment and treatment planning, differences between implant and conventional crown and bridge, instruments and materials, occlusion, abutment design, aesthetics, temporization and transfer of emergence profile, impression technique – implant/abutment level, screw vs cement retained restorations, lab costs and fee guidance and complications. On completion of the course the candidate will be better able to provide the restorative element of straightforward implant cases.
