Description: A two day course, on consecutive days, to cover the aetiology, assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning for periodontal conditions. Day 1 will start with a presentation on periodontal diagnosis, followed by groupwork ( in groups of 3 or 4 ) on cases with diagnostic dilemmas or problems, followed by risk factors and more complex cases. There will be an interactive exercise on the assessment of prognosis for individual teeth, with photographs and radiographs for each group. Day 2 will cover evidence relating to assessment of prognosis before discussing treatment planning in detail. There will be a series of mini presentations interspersed with discussions on case histories and practical sessions.Topics will also include bacterial biofilms, importance of self-performed plaque control and patient motivation
