There will be an opportunity to look at different teaching strategies and modalities to understand the relative strengths, challenges, and opportunities to develop a full set of tools as an educator. The main focus of day 2 will be the role of an educator and supervisor of trainees, undergraduate students and members of the multi-professional team. This day will prepare senior trainees for a formal role as a clinical or educational supervisors and is aligned to the GMC’s 7 domains of trainer accreditation. The final section will give delegates the opportunity to explore future careers and leadership opportunities in medical education from our very experienced and diverse faculty.

This is often prompted by challenges experienced during training. Our intention is that HEE is able to support all our learners in their educational journey. Coaches can provide an invaluable role alongside our trainees as they explore the information and awareness a new diagnosis brings. For coaches this means ensuring our understanding of neurodiversity is up to date, as well as exploring what is useful to offer in the coaching context. Description: The Workforce Race Equality Standard data demonstrates that the levels of bullying and harassment within the NHS are rising year on year, and this is resulting in low staff retention and a poor workplace culture. Recognising these issues is an important part of our training as healthcare professionals but also as leaders. Our personal experiences of diversity training have been that it is not specific to the dynamics of NHS workplaces. We recognise that challenging authority is difficult, but can be especially so when that authority can have very real impacts on training and opportunities. This course will offer a chance to share scenarios that you have witnessed, discuss these in small groups, and offer a structure for how to challenge injustice. You will also have the opportunity to act out different ways of approaching these scenarios if you wish. There is also the option to watch these scenarios be acted out, which will prompt further thinking about how you might do this in your workplace.
