Short resume of career to date: Early roles in nursery nursing, TEFL teaching and community development provided experience that has proved useful in children’s centres, which seek to integrate health, social care and education. As the lone parent of three young children, I later worked as a School Meals Supervisory Assistant (SMSA) and Special Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) in the primary school my children attended, whilst completing my PGCE (teaching qualification) with the Open University. Part-time teaching posts with children who were permanently excluded and/or who had additional learning needs followed. I taught across the primary age range before specialising in Early Years, becoming Deputy Head at Hartcliffe in 2003 and Head of Rosemary Nursery School in 2007. In 2011, I became a Local Leader of Education- a mentor for colleagues- and in 2014 Rosemary Nursery School expanded to incorporate a children’s centre.
Experience relevant to the topic: Centre has 80% EAL and high numbers of children with social and communication needs. Effective communication is the cornerstone of our work and has been recognised as a strength of the setting in several reports and research projects including ‘Making the Difference’ (Bristol University 2012, 2015), Early Years Teaching Centre designation (DfE /Pen Green Research Centre 2012) Ofsted school inspection (2013) Early Years inspection (2014).
Feedback from other courses given: Examples include Early Childhood Conference , Bath Spa University , Weston College, East Central Early Years Network: all returned evaluations graded good- excellent.

Short Resume of Career to Date: After a period working in General practice and overseas I completed my specialist training in UMDS in 1995. I have worked in dental public health and public health in the South West of England. In 2013, I joined Public Health England, SW Centre to provide dental public health support to Local Authorities and NHS England.
Experience Relevant to Topic: Experience developing oral and general health strategies with Health authorities and Primary Care Trusts before moving to Public Health England in 2013. |

Short resume of career to date: PhD from UCL, worked in Primary Care and Population Science at Royal Free Hospital, followed by a period as a research in the Child Health Research & Policy Unit at City University, London. Joined Bristol University School for Policy Studies in 2014.
Experience relevant to the topic: Her research focusses on developing the evidence base to promote equity in child health outcomes. Her background is in Psychology, she has use this to develop interdisciplinary research, addressing key inequalities in children’s’ health from a behavioural point of view.

Short resume of career to date: Robin has spent most of his 42 year career treating children in the CDS and NHS Hospitals, apart from a 5 year Royal Navy Short Service Commission. He is on the Specialist List for Paediatric Dentistry and is a Specialty Doctor at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. He obtained his MSc in Child Dental Health (Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics) and a Doctorate in Optoelectronics and Photopolymerisation from the University of Bristol. Robin won a Shirley Glasstone Hughes Memorial BDA Research Prize in 1995 for his work using high power blue LEDs to cure dental composites and was made an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Bristol. His highest cited publication as first author is 186 at the time of writing. Robin holds two US patents and has worked as an expert witness for a firm of US Patent Attorneys and presented his work at IADR meetings in France and Japan. He is a visiting scientist at the University of Jena and two of the prototype LED light curing units he built in Wiltshire in the German Optical Museum in Jena. Robin has several years’ experience on the Wiltshire Local Dental Committee and 2 Local Safeguarding Children Boards. He was recruited into the Swindon CCG Safeguarding Health Group in 2019. He was elected President of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry in 2015 at their Annual Scientific Meeting in Bath.
Experience relevant to the topic: Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry since 1999. Authored Dental part of the Red Book for Bath District Health Authority in the 1980s Worked in the Community Dental service for 32 years treating children with additional needs. Worked closely with Health Visitors, School Nurses and Paediatricians for 30 years. Served on both Wiltshire and Swindon Safeguarding Children’s Boards for several years.

Short resume of career to date: Robert Witton is a GDC registered specialist and Consultant in Dental Public Health. He is the Director of Social Engagement and Community-based Dentistry at Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine & Dentistry. Robert is responsible for the public health and community focused aspects of the curriculum. He leads an award winning social enterprise and its community engagement team with particular expertise in working with vulnerable and disadvantaged community groups to address oral health inequalities for the benefit of dental education. The team has recently won two national awards for innovation in community oral health education and enterprise.
