Lecturer profileVerna Easterby-Smith BDS MSc, GDC 56097 is the Clinical Commissioning Lead (Dental) - NHS England (Wessex), a Specialist Clinical Lead for Elderly and Domiciliary Care- Solent NHS Trust and the Dental Tutor - Winchester and Basingstoke, Wessex Deanery, Health Education England. Verna qualified at the Royal London Hospital in 1981, obtained her MSc in Gerodontics in 1986 and is on the GDC Specialist lists for Prosthodontics and Special Care Dentistry. She completed her Coach/Mentor training through the Wessex Deanery in 2014 and has worked as a locum practice inspector for CQC.

Lecturer profileNerina Hendrickse BDS, GDC 57119, is an Orthodontist in Hampshire. She was one of the first dental graduates to undertake VT, following this with positions in the Community Dental Service in London and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Wales and Southampton. Nerina then entered general dental practice, becoming a practice partner in Hampshire in 1989. While in practice, she studied for the Bristol University Open Learning Diploma (BUOLD) in Orthodontics, completing this in 1993. Nerina continued to work as a general dental practitioner with an interest in Orthodontics, until she set up her own practice in 2006, with a strong emphasis on Orthodontics. Since 1990 she has worked as a Staff Grade in Orthodontics, one day per week, at Southampton General Hospital. In addition, Nerina currently holds the following positions:
• Honorary Secretary of Wessex BDA
• GDP Appraiser – Wessex area
• Relate Counsellor - has presented courses on communications skills, conflict management, taking charge of your life and stress management
Previously:
• Formative member of the Wessex Dental Peer Review group in 2011
• Helped in the teaching of debonding and retention on the BUOLD Orthodontic course for a number of years
• Demonstrated matrix techniques in the teaching of hands-on posterior composite courses at home and abroad, and also in the Hall Technique.
