Description: The Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999 (IRR99) and the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure Regulations 2000 (IR(ME)R 2000) govern the use of ionising radiation in the UK. The GDC recommends that all Dentists and DCPs complete at least 5 hours of CPD in radiography and radiation protection every CPD cycle. As such, this course satisfies Schedule 2 of the IRMER regulations for practitioners, as well as core CPD requirements as recommended by the GDC. Learners should be aware Guidance Notes for Dental Practitioners on the Safe Use of X-ray equipment (DH, 2001) and Selection Criteria for Dental Radiography (FGDP (UK) RCS, 2013) are key reference guidelines/publications and essential reading for all dental professionals before and after the course. The content of the course is specified in the 2001 Guidance Notes.
