DescriptionThis workshop supports trainers to better understand and promote mental fitness among residents, equipping them with practical strategies to foster resilience, self-awareness and sustainable performance in training. Participants will explore how to recognise early signs of stress, create psychologically safe learning environments, and hold effective 1:1s that support development and mental fitness. The session empowers trainers to support residents in building the habits, mindset and coping skills essential whilst working in high-pressure clinical settings and sustaining long-term career fulfilment.

  1. Reflect on common challenges faced by trainees and how these impact their performance.
  2. Recognise the effects of health, illness, stress, and fatigue, and identify these issues early.
  3. Understand the importance of energy management and how it differs from time management.
  4. Develop approaches for achieving work-life balance.
  5. Implement strategies to enhance self-care, resilience, and emotional agility in trainees and oneself.
  6. Create a supportive learning environment for optimal trainee development.
