Description: A virtual networking event for International Medical Graduate (IMG) doctors starting training in the Yorkshire and The Humber region in February 2023. GP Trainees who started in August 2022 and are starting their first secondary care placements in February 2023 are also welcome. The aim of these sessions is to set up a pilot of virtual networking events to support new IMG doctors in their transition into training and working in the NHS. Each session will be interactive with breakout rooms for trainees to engage with one another. Lectures and Q&A panels will be recorded but we would strongly encourage access to microphones and cameras during the breakout rooms sessions to maximise the opportunity for participants to speak to other IMG trainees.

Description: These sessions are hosted by our SuppoRTT fellow Rhiannon. We have set these up to provide a relaxed place for an informal chat with other trainees who are currently out of programme. Grab a drink and come chat to fellow trainees about what you are up to, what life is like out of training, any worries or concerns or just as an opportunity to talk to someone who isn’t a baby, even if it’s about what you’ve just watched on Netflix! Description: Coaching skills are valuable in educational supervision, particularly when working with vulnerable or anxious trainees. The tools shared in this workshop are specifically related to developing greater trainee confidence. The evidence tells us coaching skills are beneficial in our professional roles and relationships, and evaluations tell us they have a positive impact. Equipping professionals with skills that enhance their communication is an important part of improving patient care and the patient experience, as well as boosting self-confidence in managing what could be demanding educational relationships. Current national strategy such as the NHS Long Term Plan and NHS People Plan call for more opportunities for coaching, as well as activities based on coaching.
