Rachel is dually qualified Consultant in Oral Medicine working in the Bristol Dental Hospital. After completing a degree in Dentistry from Bristol in 2004, she worked as a general and hospital dentist in the North East of England before completing a degree in Medicine, back in Bristol. After FY1/2 I began speciality training in Oral Medicine on a part time basis, using the other 2 days of the week to remain engaged in acute medicine, based in the Acute Medical Unit of the BRI. She began her current post in April 2017 and her time is largely split between provision of NHS out-patient clinics and her role with the University, teaching on the Oral Diseases, Human Disease undergraduate courses, and the Oral Medicine and Pathology post-graduate MSc.

Emma graduated from Cardiff Dental School in 2000, and, after completing Vocational Training and a wide variety of SHO posts, undertook Specialist Training and an FTTA in Paediatric Dentistry, based both in Cardiff and in Westmead Dental and Children’s Hospital in Sydney. Emma has been a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry in Cardiff for five years and is the lead for Dentistry in the Children’s Hospital for Wales. She has an interest in the provision of dental care for medically compromised children, and in the management of complex dental trauma.
