Short resume of career to date:
Robin has spent most of his 42 year career treating children in the CDS and NHS Hospitals, apart from a 5 year Royal Navy Short Service Commission. He is on the Specialist List for Paediatric Dentistry and is a Specialty Doctor at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. He obtained his MSc in Child Dental Health (Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics) and a Doctorate in Optoelectronics and Photopolymerisation from the University of Bristol. Robin won a Shirley Glasstone Hughes Memorial BDA Research Prize in 1995 for his work using high power blue LEDs to cure dental composites and was made an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Bristol. His highest cited publication as first author is 186 at the time of writing. Robin holds two US patents and has worked as an expert witness for a firm of US Patent Attorneys and presented his work at IADR meetings in France and Japan. He is a visiting scientist at the University of Jena and two of the prototype LED light curing units he built in Wiltshire in the German Optical Museum in Jena. Robin has several years’ experience on the Wiltshire Local Dental Committee and 2 Local Safeguarding Children Boards. He was recruited into the Swindon CCG Safeguarding Health Group in 2019. He was elected President of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry in 2015 at their Annual Scientific Meeting in Bath.

Worked in the Community Dental service for 32 years treating children with additional needs. Worked closely with Health Visitors, School Nurses and Paediatricians for 30 years. Served on both Wiltshire and Swindon Safeguarding Children’s Boards for several years.
