DescriptionThis course aims to review the current concepts of periodontal treatment planning and delivery as well as the practical application of periodontal hand and mechanical instrumentation including instrument maintenance for optimal periodontal care. We will be joined by Mrs Alison Grant RDH, Dental Hygienist and Tutor at the University of Bristol. Alison has a wealth of experience teaching about all things perio and we are delighted to have her join us to share her knowledge.

You are very welcome to bring your own hand instruments to sharpen.

A light buffet lunch will be provided.  Please ensure you let us have any dietary requirements at least one week before the course - please send these to Harriet.buleysnell@nhs.net

Aims

To review current concepts of periodontal treatment planning and delivery as well as the practical application of periodontal hand and mechanical instrumentation including instrument maintenance for optimal periodontal care.

Objectives

By the end of the session, delegates will be able to:

1. Formulate appropriate treatment plans for periodontal care

2. Recognise effective instruments for 'Professional Mechanical Plaque Removal' and describe instrument features

3. Identify successful techniques with a variety of hand & mechanical instruments for the treatment & maintenance of periodontal disease

4. Demonstrate a safe sharpening technique for different periodontal instruments

Learning outcomes

After this session, delegates will feel confident to deliver evidence-based periodontal care and will be able to ensure optimum instrument techniques and maintenance.
