Introduction to Critical Appraisal (DCT 2025-26 03)

Mandatory: DCT

To introduce the integral role of evidence-based dentistry in day-to-day clinical practice and to revise key concepts of critical appraisal teaching and apply these to research studies

- To acknowledge the importance of research within dentistry

- To be able to effectively use critical appraisal tools on a variety of research study designs

- To reflect on career goals and the need for evidence-based practice as part of career development

To reflect on the research requirements for speciality training applications

After this workshop participants will be able to:

- Apply critical appraisal tools to research studies

- Evaluate the available evidence in light of a clinical question

Identified opportunities to get involved with dental research at every career stage
