Description | This course is aimed at applicants who are working towards attaining their Performer Number or any members of the oral health care team who would like to refresh their skills. If you are having trouble with OPT'S or using the paralleling technique for intra-oral radiographs or just want to confirm that you are doing it correctly, Tim Huckstep, Radiographer in the Dental Departments of Derriford Hospital will guide you through! Bring your own kit (film holders) and he will be able to give you tips on how to get the best out of your equipment. | ||
Additional information | The course will take place in the Dental Radiography room in the Dental Department on level 7 Out-Patients Department, Derriford Hospital. Max the radiographic mannequin will be used to practice intra- oral techniques, no applicants will be harmed by ionising radiation during the course!
Tim worked with Nick Drage in Cardiff so is fully conversant with the nuances of dental radiography and has leant his expertise to the Derrifierd Dental clinicians for a number of years | ||

Objectives | By the end of the session, delegates will: 1- Have revised the techniques for the use of equipment used to take intra-oral radiographs using the paralleling technique. 2- Have revised the positioning of the patient to take high quality OPT's 3- Have had an opportunity to gain insight on the equipment they use in their practice. | ||
