Aims

To give FDs an overview of periodontology in general practice, and allow the FDs to apply correct clinical protocols based on their accurate diagnostic findings.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session learners should be able to:

- Describe the pathogenesis and aetiology of periodontal diseases

- Use periodontal indices to inform treatment based on current guidelines

- Analyse a set of clinical findings and diagnose the correct periodontal condition based on those findings

- Develop an effective treatment plan based on that diagnosis
