Aims

To provide FDs with an opportunity to see the potential level of skill they can achieve with careful clinical work in practice, and start to use these advanced techniques hands-on with direct constructive feedback from an expert.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session learners should be able to:

- Describe the natural layering technique of composite placement

- Place a composite restoration using the natural layering technique

- Describe the advantages and disadvantages of sectional matrices

- Use a sectional matrix to restore a cavity

- Construct and place a semi-direct composite inlay

- List the advantages and disadvantages of indirect restorations to restore cavities

- Perform a preparation for the indirect restoration of a cavity, both of an onlay and inlay
