DescriptionKonrad Staines, Consultant Senior Lecturer at Bristol Dental Hospital, will be updating our knowledge of oral medicine. We will cover oral mucosal lesions and manifestations of systemic disease including potentially malignant lesions and oral cancer. This interactive course will enable plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.

Aims

To provide an overview of the range of oral mucosal lesions that may present in general dental practice

To provide an awareness of the clinical presentation of oral potentially malignant lesions and oral cancer

To provide an awareness of the diagnostic approach to oral mucosal lesions in specialist oral medicine practice

Objectives

Participants will be able to recognise the mucosal lesions that require an onward referral for specialist assessment.

Participants will have increased awareness of the diagnostic pitfalls of oral mucosal disease presenting in general dental practice

 

Outcomes:

Participants will be better equipped to manage (including appropriate referral) oral mucosal lesions and manifestations of systemic disease that present in general dental practice.
