Short resume of career to date:
Chris qualified as a Dental Technician from Bristol Dental Hospital and Cardiff Metropolitan University respectively. Chris currently holds the post of Advanced Digital OMFS and Orthodontic Technologist at the department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics, Royal United Hospital, Bath.

Chris has a keen interest in the application and implementation of digital technology in healthcare. Since joining the Trust in 2018, Chris has been involved with the design and implementation of a cutting edge 'point-of-care' digital OMFS service, which has resulted in the installation of specialist surgical planning software, advanced clinical imaging methods and 3D printing.

Chris has developed new practices and digital workflows that have been adopted by the OMFS department, revolutionising the way in which cases are approached.

Experience relevant to the topic:
Experience in the application of CAD/CAM and design for manufacture techniques since 2006

Designed and implemented a ‘point-of-care’ 3D printing service within the Royal United Hospitals Trust.

Appointed as the 3D printing and surgical planning lead for OMFS department.

I have planned over 50 joint orthodontic/OMFS Orthognathic patient cases in 2021. These patients have undergone virtual surgical planning (VSP) sessions and benefited from patient specific surgical guides. All designed and fabricated in-house.

Digital approaches have been used in the pre-operative management and planning of complex trauma cases.

Rolling out patient specific solutions and 3D printed across the Trust. Expanding into ENT, Orthopaedics and Nuclear Medicine.

On-going contributions to publications and research projects.

Frequent tutorial sessions held with consultants, registrars, DCT’s and Technicians across the South West of England.
