Short resume of career to date:
Following undergraduate dental (Dundee) and medical (Bristol) degrees, Barry undertook training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Severn Deanery. He concurrently trained in research, undertaking a PhD in health services research and later being appointed as a National Institute for Health Research Clinical Lecturer. . Barry is Head of Bristol Dental School and work as a clinical academic holding a consultant post in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Bristol.

Experience relevant to the topic:
Barry regularly see patients referred in via the two week wait pathway with oral ulceration, and have experience of treating patients with ulceration of varying underlying causes, including malignancy.

Lecturer profileMr. Singh is a consultant Maxillofacial/ Head & Neck Surgeon based at Gloucester Royal Hospital, Gloucester.

He is qualified in Medicine and Dentistry having graduated from the University of the West Indies and University of London respectively. His general surgical training was carried out in Essex and was awarded his surgical fellowship during this time. He completed his Maxillo-facial training along the South Coast of England and during this time travelled frequently to India to gain more experience in Head & Neck oncology.

His NHS practice includes ablative and micro-vascular reconstruction for head and neck malignancies, surgical management of skin cancers as well as facial trauma and salivary gland disease.
