Lecturer profile | Ollie qualified from Newcastle University with honours in 2005, winning numerous awards pertaining to clinical and academic dentistry. He worked in general practice for 13 years, training extensively in restorative and implant dentistry, before moving to Newcastle University where he is currently teaching and undertaking research into the costs and benefits of the alternatives to amalgam. He is lead of the undergraduate crown and bridge course and the final year restorative clinic, and is the Deputy Degree Programme Director of the implant diploma. Ollie has also been heavily involved in postgraduate education external to the University for a number of years, including lecturing at the prestigious Kois Center in Seattle, where he is a graduate, whilst maintaining a small commitment to general practice. Ollie is past elected Chairman of North East Private Dentists, a role which he held for five years, before stepping down to the role of vice chairman when embarking on his new role at Newcastle University. |

Lecturer profile | Jon is a Cornishman, originally from Truro where he grew up. Jon graduated from the University of Bristol in 2004 and after completing vocational training, he worked in Carlisle in General Practice. Jon relocated back to the south-west in 2006 and continued working in General Practice in Bath and in 2009 was awarded a Diploma in Endodontic Practice with merit after two years of further postgraduate training at Barts and The London Hospital.
Soon after this, he embarked upon four years of formal specialist training in the field of Endodontics at Guy's Hospital. As part of his specialist training, he was awarded a Master of Clinical Dentistry degree in Endodontics with distinction at Kings College, London whilst also attaining the Membership in Endodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Jon now works in specialist referral practice at 13 Circus, Bath and Clifton Down Dental Practice in Bristol and has been accepting referrals from local practitioners for many years. He also works as a Specialty Restorative Dentist at The Bristol Dental Hospital being involved in teaching and training of postgraduate dentists and junior staff. Jon also teaches as a part-time Clinical Instructor for the MSc in Endodontics at King’s College, London. He has published clinical articles and is a reviewer for the International Endodontic Journal.

Lecturer profile | Colin McGuirk works in a private referral practice in Bath limiting his practice to prosthodontics and dental implantology. Colin’s expertise is in utilising minimally invasive, adhesive techniques to restore teeth. He has a particular interest in treating complex cases and especially in the management of tooth wear.
Colin has completed extensive postgraduate studies including two masters degrees; a MSc in dental implantology and a MClinDent in fixed and removable prosthodontics and was awarded a distinction for both degrees.
Colin is a postgraduate mentor for King’s College London and a clinical lecturer for the university of Bristol. He is involved in teaching dentists as part of MSc and MClinDent programmes and through independent courses across the UK.
