Formerly Professor of Primary Dental Care at the University of Liverpool, Director of the Dental Therapist Training School, Honorary Consultant in primary Dental Care and Chairman of the Education Committee of the University of Liverpool School for Dental Nurses. Currently an Emeritus examiner for NEBDN, and senior member of the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee of Warwick Medical School. Editor and co-author of ‘Advanced Dental Nursing’, ‘Clinical Textbook for Dental Therapists and Hygienists’ and ‘The Oxford Dictionary of Dentistry’. Published 38 peer-reviewed research publications and lectured extensively in the UK and Europe.

Currently lecture to postgraduates as part of their MSc programme and orthodontic therapists on consent as it applies to clinical dentistry. Member of the GDC Private Patients Complaints Panel. Member of Warwick Medical School Biomedical and Scientific Research Ethics Committee. Formerly expert witness for clinical dental litigation cases.
