Aims

This course aim’s to shed light on the latest buzz word -‘biofilm’ and its role in periodontal disease and to update practitioners on current practice regarding biofiim disruption and root surface debridement.

Objectives
  1. Understand the formation of biofilm in the oral cavity
  2. Describe the role of the biofilm in periodontal disease.
  3. Explain methods of mechanical, chemical and pharmacological biofilm disruption in the management of periodontal disease.
  4. Confidently use subgingival hand instruments and update knowledge of ultrasonic scalers currently available.
