Aims

Our overall aim is to introduce participants to the theory and practice of dental hypnosis. Topics include the following:

  • The nature of hypnosis and self-hypnosis.
  • The measurement of hypnotic susceptability.
  • An overview of the range of applications of hypnosis in dentistry.
  • The experience of hypnosis.
  • The use of self-hypnosis in stress management.
  • The use of hypnosis with children.
Objectives

By the end of the day participants will:

  • Be able to use a basic hypotic anxiety control technique with their patients.
  • Be able to use a basic self-hypnosis technique to manage their own stress.
  • Be able to understand the nature of hypnosis and self-hypnosis.
  • Have an awareness of the possible applications of hypnosis in dentistry.
