| Aims | Lecture 1 (Prof H Jenkinson):To provide a concise summary of the approaches used towards producing a vaccine against dental caries, and of recent alternative methods for caries control. Lecture 2 (Prof D Ricketts): To understand the problems associated with caries diagnosis in contempory practice. Lecture 3 (Prof D Ricketts): To have an appreciation of how cavity design has changed over the last century. | ||
| Objectives | Lecture 1: Appraisal of the concept of a dental caries vaccine, and evaluation of alternative approaches for preventing dental caries. Lecture 2: Know how to optimise caries detection with conventional aids. Know about new caries detection devices and their advantages and disadvantages. Lecture 3: Understand the rationale for caries removal in today's practice. To address whether operative caries management should change from our current surgical and mechanistic approach. | ||
