Description | Please join Prof. Brian Millar in Cornwall for a day addressing tooth wear. He will cover diagnosis and management including when to monitor and when and how to restore worn teeth. The table top hands-on sessions will cover managing both localised and generalised wear using both direct materials and indirect options. This programme is a mix of seminar and table top practical elements working on models for a relatively small group. | ||
Additional information | This course is for members of the dental team who diagnose and manage tooth wear using indirect and direct techniques in their scope of practice. There will be sections that are only with in the scope of practice of a dentist but other team members are welcome to attend if they are interested in this topic or work with other dental team members for shared patient management. The course will cover more advanced techniques and will be an opportunity to hear about further training opportunities offered at KCL. | ||

Aims | The aim of this course is to provide a deeper understanding of the causes, intervention options and management of tooth wear. | ||
Objectives | By the end of this course delegates should: 1. be able to diagnose tooth wear and understand the intervention options from monitoring and prevention to intervention for both localised and generalised tooth wear. 2. describe how to intervene using contemporary material to replace missing tissue and correct occlusal problems due to tooth surface loss, restoring function and aesthetics while protecting the teeth. 3. explain how to maintain worn dentitions by easily refurbishing composite materials as well as having a structured approach to replacing them with indirect materials.. | ||
Learning outcomes | At the end of the course participants will be able to: 1. inform patients of tooth wear diagnosis and intervention options from monitoring and prevention to intervention. 2. intervene using contemporary material to replace missing tissue and correct occlusal problems due to too surface loss, restoring function and aesthetics while protecting the teeth. 3. maintain worn dentitions using a range of materials and options. | ||
