Description | This is an excellent opportunity for peer review and networking, open to all dental care professionals working in oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a specific focus on the care of head and neck cancer patients. A series of three peer review events will be held across the next few months. |
Additional information | For the first session, Joss Harding will join us and we will have opportunity to review current practice across the region. Harriet Buley-Snell will also discuss the potential career development opportunities for DCPs working in OMFS. |

Aims | To bring together DCPs working in the management and care of HANC patients in OMFS units for peer review and networking.
The course aims to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care for patients with head and neck cancer.
The course also aims to empower DCPs to understand the career opportunities available to them. |
Objectives | 1. Identify and explain complex care needs 2. Analyse and evaluate patient-centred care approaches 3. Critique and apply evidence-based guidelines 4. Develop and justify a comprehensive care plan 5. Recognise the career opportunities available to DCPs working in OMFS. 6. Explain the role of the oral health practitioner and how it can be utilised in daily practice. 7. Discuss the future development of enhanced clinical practitioners and advanced clinical practitioners in daily practice. |
Learning outcomes | By exploring the complexities of treatment, care coordination, and patient-centred approaches, delegates will enhance their ability to critically evaluate guidelines, address unique patient needs, and improve quality of life for this population through informed, multidisciplinary care strategies. Delegates will also feel empowered to continue in their careers in OMFS as they will understand the opportunities available to them. |
