Aims

To improve the knowledge and confidence to be able to differentiate between benign and malignant oral ulcerative conditions, recognise common oral manifestations of systemic disease, and when and where to refer.

Objectives

1. Recognise oral ulcerative conditions, and understand underlying systemic conditions which may cause them.

2. Understand the initial management of oral ulcerative conditions.

3. Learn to differentiate common ulcerative lesions and red and white patches of the oral cavity and their malignant potential.

4. Be able to recognise potentially cancerous lesions and understand when and who to refer to.

Recognise common oral ulcerative conditions and how to aid in patient management.


Be able to differentiate between benign oral ulceration and cancerous lesions.

Recognise the malignant potential of oral lesions and when to refer for urgent biopsy.
