Aims

The aim of this course is to  update dental teams on the latest county wide plans and opportunities for NHS service improvement, workforce/skill mix development and professional development opportunities.

Objectives
  • The speaker will explain progress in, and developments of the NHS/ICB Dental strategy.
  • The speaker will describe utilisation and feedback on the stabilisation and urgent care sessions and opportunities to be involved.
  • The speaker will describe how dental practices can train dental nurses via an apprenticeship route, and explain the dental work experience toolkit.
  • The speaker will touch on the current challenges in Oral Surgery in secondary care and what resolution could be developed locally together with relevant training opportunities.
Learning outcomes

By the end of this course delegates will:

 

  1. Understand progress in, and developments of the NHS/ICB Dental strategy.
  2. Have knowledge of Dental Stabilisation and Urgent Care sessions.
  3. Be able to describe how dental nurse apprentices work
  4. Be able to offer dental work experience.
  5. Recognise the current challenges within Oral Surgery in secondary care and further understanding on training pathway opportunities locally
