DescriptionThis evenings session will cover the specifics of inhalation sedation that have not already been covered in the previous sessions. Patient suitability, practical elements, benefits and physiology of IS use will be covered.

This is part 4 of a series of 4 update training sessions delivered via Zoom.

Aims

The aim of this session is to update dental teams in delivering inhalation sedation.

Objectives

By the end of this session participants should;

  1. be able to describe the equipment needs for inhalation sedation
  2. be able to determine patient suitability for inhalation sedation
  3. understand the physiology of inhalation sedation with nitrous oxide
  4. be able to discuss the benefits for the patient of having inhalation sedation
Learning outcomes

By the end of this session participants will:

  1. be able to use the information learnt to ensure continued safe and effective use of inhalation sedation within their practice
  2. be able to ensure safe monitoring of patients undergoing inhalation sedation
  3. be able to advise patients on the most appropriate sedation modality and the benefits of inhalation sedation
