DescriptionThis is an interactive course aimed at all members of the dental team working with sedation. This evenings session will cover the consent process and the importance of audit. The current guidance of patient preparation and assessment for IV sedation is also covered tonight. (Inhalation sedation will not be covered in this session)

This is part 2 of a series of 4 update training sessions delivered via on Zoom.

Delegates can book on to an individual course or all 4 (each course must be booked separately)

All courses will consist of short presentations and live Q/A sessions

Please note on 27th November 2024 there is also a hands on cannulation course in Exeter available to book on Maxcourse if you wish to practice IV cannulation techniques.

Aims

The aim of this session is to update dental team members on;

implementation and interpretation of the guidance on consent and audit for conscious sedation in dentistry.

the current guidance of patient preparation and assessment for IV sedation (inhalation sedation will not be covered in this session)

Objectives

By the end of this session participants should be able to; 

1. describe the current guidance for assessment  and monitoring  of patients for IV sedation

2. outline the best practice and practical tips for consent and audit.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session dental teams will have increased confidence in treating patients using conscious sedation techniques by

1. having increased understanding of the current guidance and how this needs to be reflected in practice

2. having some practical steps to help the provision of intravenous sedation in the clinical setting.
