Description | Join us in Bristol as we welcome back Neil Nathwani (Associate Professor, Eastman Dental Institute) who will spend the morning guiding us through methods of caries diagnosis. We will be exploring how the shift from surgical repair of caries to prevention has changed diagnostic methods, as well as discussing the limitations of visual-tactile methods and bitewing radiography. After lunch, Neil will give an overview of the different generations of bonding agents, etching techniques and the concept of immediate dentine sealing. This will be a small group with plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion. |
Additional information | This course is aimed at dentists and dental therapists who diagnose and manage caries. Everyone is very welcome to stay all day, the afternoon session will include bonding indirect restorations, which may be outside of your scope of practice. Objectives | Following the course, participants will: 1. Understand how a change in surgical repair of caries to prevention has influences caries diagnosis methods 2. Explain why caries diagnosis is important 3. Discuss the difference between the medical and dental perspective of caries diagnosis 4. Identify tools and diagnostic criteria of visual-tactile methods 5. Identify diagnostic criteria of bitewing radiography as well as benefits and limitations 6. Understand the different types of etching and how these relate to the bonding agents used in order to achieve predictable results 7. Gain an insight into the concept of Immediate Dentine Sealing and understand how to carry out the procedure 8. Pick up Lithium Disilicate tips and tricks |
