DescriptionNikolai Stankiewicz, experienced GDP, expert witness and published author on this subject will be joining us to demystify Disinfection and Decontamination. We will be considering our responsibilities under HTM105, 0701, 0401 and 2022, the most common cross infection control CQC failings and how to avoid them, needlestick injuries and waste management. To help us get through the morning, brunch will be provided. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
Additional information

One hour of pre-course reading will be supplied two weeks prior to the course, enabling participants to complete the five hours CPD on this subject that is highly recommended by the GDC in each five-year cycle.  All members of the dental team are very welcome to attend.

Aims

This course aims to update participants on recent developments in disinfection and decontamination.

Objectives

Following the course, participants will:

1. Understand the stages of decontamination set out in HTM105

2. Be aware of the reasons and processes for the safe management of waste

3. Be aware of the content of relevant environmental legislation

4. Understand the role of the CQC

5. Consider the influence of the pandemic on cross infection practices in dentistry

6. Know how to manage waterlines appropriately

7. Be aware of their responsibilities toward personal risk, including PPE and needlestick

Following this course, participants will understand the importance of disinfection and decontamination in general dental practice.
