DescriptionNeil Nathwani (Associate Professor, Eastman Dental Institute) will be joining us in Bristol to discuss the concept of minimally invasive dentistry. He will guide us through diagnosis, treatment planning, caries removal and restoration. This will be a small group course, with plenty of opportunities for questions, discussion and clinical tips.

Lunch will be available for those people choosing also to attend the morning session 'Complete Dentures'

Aims

To review aspects of Minimally Invasive Dentistry

By the end of the session, participants will:

1. Demonstrate a good knowledge of minimally invasive dentistry

2. Understand caries removal from a tooth via ART technique and restore teeth with different materials

3. Be able to understand minimally invasive tooth preparations in relation to onlays

Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will:

1. Be able to generate a differential diagnosis and treatment plan based on evidence through the correct interpretation of clinical findings

2. Determine the rationale for minimally invasive dentistry with the ART technique

3. Determine the rationale for minimally invasive techniques for direct restorations on posterior teeth

4. Discuss the potential consequences of minimally invasive dentistry

Learning outcomes

Participants will have a greater awareness of the concept of minimally invasive dentistry and how to confidently explain these options to patients
