DescriptionThis online learning session will cover the evidence behind using preformed metal crowns (PMCs) for children. There will be a lecture and video to explain the non-AGP technique for placing them along with a chance to ask our speaker, Dan Knibb, questions. The session is suitable for all dentists, therapists and any members of the team who may be involved in explaining or assisting with PMC placement. Please be aware this is not a substitute for a hands on course and it is not an online version of the Preserving Primary Molars course that was cancelled on 13th May 2020. There will be limited participants to enable questions so please put your name on the waiting list if full for interest in a future course. If you have any questions you would like to be answered in this session please email them to samantha.braddock@hee.nhs.uk by Friday 5th June 2020.

Aims

The aim of this course is to improve understanding of the advantages of preformed metal crowns and their placement in general practice


Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will;

 

  1. Understand the scientific basis for the use of preformed metal crowns (PMCs) in dental practice
  2. Understand the indications for PMCs
  3. To review the prevalence and distribution of childhood caries
  4. To learn about the practical techniques associated with placement of preformed metal crowns
Learning outcomes

By the end of this course,  participants should;

1. Understand which patients would benefit from PMCs

2. Be able to explain the benefits and disadvantages of PMCs to patients/parents

3. Have better understanding of how to place PMCs in general practice
