Aims

To provide an introduction to the areas of legal risk that arise when dealing with trainee dentists in difficulty. This will include providing an overview of the areas of law involved in such risks, how they present in practice and lessons learned from previous cases.

Objectives
  • To understand the areas of legal risk when dealing with dental trainees in difficulty
  • To discuss and examine the steps that can be taken to reduce such risks
  • To identify the roles and responsibilities of various organisations when managing trainees in difficulty
  • To consider the support on offer for those involved in the management of dental trainees

By the end of the training day, attendees should be able to:

  • identify situations with a high legal risk
  • have a broad understanding of the considerations in such cases
  • describe what steps they can take to reduce such risks and
  • indemnify the support on offer for those managing trainees in difficulty
