Aims

To improve restorative treatment planning skills, including the role of dental implants and how complex maxillofacial defects can be rehabilitated with the help of Maxillofacial Prosthetists/ Reconstructive Scientists.

The course aims to have some practical elements of implant placement and demonstration of Maxillofacial prostheses to help understanding and add interest to the day.

Objectives

Revise the restorative treatment planning process.

· To improve delegates' understanding of implant provision within the NHS.

· To improve delegates' understanding of the role of the Maxillofacial Prosthetist and Reconstructive Scientists in the management of the head and neck cancer patient.

Learning outcomes

Following the course, delegates should be able to:

Apply a framework to help treatment plan any dental restorative case.

Understand in basic practical terms the role dental implants can play as a tooth replacement option for patients.
