Development of understanding of CBCT

Objectives
  • Understand what CBCT is and how it differs from conventional spiral CT.
  • Understand how the physics of CBCT image acquisition affects the image seen.
  • Types of CBCT, advantages and disadvantages and what is pertinent in practice.
  • Understand how to build a business case for CBCT.
  • Know how to apply image parameters effectively.
  • CBCT legislation – who is responsible for the image.
  • Indications / contraindications for CBCT.
  • Know normal anatomical structures and their variations.
  • Understand how to interpret a general radiology report.
  • Be able to construct an effective radiological report.
  • Understand common CBCT pathologies and their radiological appearance.
  • Understand when to refer and to whom.
