DescriptionThis study day is intended for DCT’s who are new to the speciality of Oral & maxillofacial Surgery and who wish to increase their confidence to undertake basic oral surgery procedures.
Additional information

It is proposed to be an interactive day where DCT’s will be encouraged to ask the most fundamental questions, in a friendly, supportive environment.

This practical course will include the use of models and synthetic-skin for hands-on practice of undertaking extractions, suturing and flap design.

Aims
  • To provide DCT’s, new to OMFS, with the skills, knowledge and confidence, to safely undertake appropriate basic minor oral surgery procedures.
Objectives
  • Ability to choose and correctly use the appropriate instruments
  • Understand the basic principles of flap design and tooth sectioning
  • Assess whether a broken root should be surgically removed or left in situ
  • Opportunity to ask that OMFS-related question you have previously thought was too foolish to ask.
  • Demonstrate the basic techniques of suturing.
