DescriptionA one day event with lectures and many hands-on table top components to take you from assessment of the broken down tooth through to restoration with indirect materials; covering material selection, local anaesthesia, tooth preparation for metal, metal-ceramic, all-ceramic and monolithic zirconia restorations, core techniques, impressions, temporisation and cementation. This course covers crowns, partial coverage, inlays, onlays, overlays and veneers, plus how to deal with subgingival margins.

Due to the demand for this course in Cornwall in September. Professor Brian Millar has agreed to deliver a repeat course in Bristol to provide us with a fantastic day of practical information on preparing  and restoring teeth with indirect and direct materials.

There is limited parking at Engineers House.If you cannot find parking within the Engineers' House specific parking please go into Engineers' House and ask at the main reception for a permit which they will give you to place in your car so that you can park on the road outside (this is now residence only parking). You will need to leave a £20 deposit for this.

Aims

To teach a range of conventional and new tooth restoration techniques, including indirect restorations such as crowns, overlays, onlays, endocrowns, vertipreps from planning to cementation in order to enable dentists to restore broken down teeth using contemporary materials and techniques.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should be able to:

  1. Select a suitable indirect material and tooth preparation design
  2. Prepare teeth accurately and quickly
  3. Carry out predictable impressions
  4. Place effective provisional restorations
  5. Understand cementation protocols for different materials

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course delegates will:


  1. Know when to use indirect materials to restore root filled and broken down teeth
  2. Be able to use aesthetic and functional direct and indirectrestorations
  3. Know which materials and techniques to select for a given clinicalsituation
  4. Be able to design and make suitable provisional restorations, take amazing impressions and use simple cementation protocols
  5. Understand and use the destination driven approach to tooth preparation
