DescriptionThis session provides an important opportunity for those who have not performed a surgical extraction to complete this under close supervision. For those interested in IV Sedation this is an ideal opportunity to undertake this in a controlled environment. Please consider which role you would prefer to undertake, sedation or surgery and arrange yourselves in pairs accordingly.

Please bring your sedation log book to add any cases that you complete today. A sample sedation log book can be downloaded from the Dental Sedation Teachers Group (www.dstg.co.uk).

1. Obtain valid informed consent for oral surgery procedures which satisfies Dental Hospital protocols.

2. Provide cannulation & intra-venous sedation for patients undergoing oral surgery procedures, utilising appropriate assistance.

3. Provide appropriate elements of tier 3 oral surgery procedures under direct supervision.

4. Appreciate the elements of constructive leadership that contribute to effective teamwork.
