DescriptionThis popular all-day course covers the aetiology and management of all types of tooth wear, from diagnosis and prevention through monitoring and management. Techniques for intervention use the latest range of adhesive aesthetic materials as well as traditional methods. Hands-on sessions include tooth build-ups with a range of direct and indirect techniques. Teaching covers the management of sensitivity, aesthetics and function as well as occlusal change in vertical and horizontal dimensions. Splint therapy is discussed. Part seminar with table top hands-on practice including treatment of a severe case (on models), supported by Coltene. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a hands on course by Professor Brian Millar BDS, FDSRCS, PhD, FHEA. Brian is Professor of Blended Learning in Dentistry at King’s College London and NHS Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the King’s College London Dental Institute at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Hospitals. Specialist in Prosthodontics and in Restorative Dentistry and Programme Director for the internationally popular MClinDent (Fixed & Removable Prosthodontics).

Aims

The aim of this course is to teach diagnosis, prevention and management options for tooth wear.

Objectives

The objectives of this course are to:-

  1. Provide delegates with education on tooth wear diagnosis and intervention options from monitoring and prevention to intervention.
  2. Teach dentists how to intervene using contemporary material to replace missing tissue and correct occlusal problems due to too surface loss, restoring function and aesthetics while protecting the teeth.
  3. To discuss when splints are appropriate in the management of tooth wear.
