DescriptionProf. Brian Millar and Dr Fariha Hussain from KCL are repeating their blended learning course of 12 hours CPD on conventional and contemporary indirect restorations, consisting of: 3 hour webinar available 1 month beforehand 3 hours reading and reflection 6 hours face to face theory and hands-on training on clinical skills We will be taken through the process from planning through preparation, impressions and temporisation to cementation. Focus is on contemporary techniques including restoring function and getting aesthetics and the occlusion correct. Content will cover a range of conventional and new tooth restoration techniques, including a range of indirect restorations such as veneers, crowns, overlays, onlays, endocrowns, and vertipreps. The course is for 2 small groups. The hands on element will include table top practice on models and phantom head practice in the clinical skills lab. See programme for details.

This is a repeat of the blended learning course in May 2022 due to over subscription. If you had signed up on the waiting list for the May course please rebook for this additional date. Please note there will be some reinforcement of content covered in the Complete composites course in October 2022.

 

This course is suitable for anyone wishing to consolidate and build on their knowledge of indirect restoration techniques. Please note the webinar and reading content should be completed before attending the face to face element. The day in the Exeter Dental Education facility will cover additional material.

Aims

The aim of this course is to give delegates knowledge of advanced practical techniques to restore aesthetics, function and the occlusion on broken down teeth using conventional and contemporary indirect restorations.


Objectives

At the end of the course delegates should be able to:


  1. Select a suitable indirect material and tooth preparation including margin type and position
  2. Understand how to prepare teeth accurately using the destination driven approach
  3. Carry out predictable impressions
  4. Place effective provisional restorations
  5. Understand cementation protocols for different materials
  6. Restore aesthetics and function
  7. Manage subgingival margins
Learning outcomes

By the end of this blended learning course delegates will:

  2. Be able to use aesthetic and functional indirect restorations
  3. Know which materials and techniques to select for a given clinical situation
