DescriptionThis popular all-day course covers the many uses of composite resin as a restorative, preventative and aesthetic assessment material. New materials and techniques including discussion on the use the latest range of adhesive aesthetic materials as well as traditional methods is covered. Table top hands-on sessions include looking at anterior veneers with direct and preform techniques, and posterior teeth using a range of direct, chairside and indirect techniques. Modifying the occlusion and treating tooth wear are also included. Emphasis is on simple effective placement and finishing procedures.

Professor Brian Millar is coming to Cornwall to provide us with 2 fantastic days of practical information on composite use and preparing teeth with indirect and direct materials. These courses can be booked as separate days or it is an ideal opportunity to make  the most of such a lovely area and book onto both.

Brian is Professor of Blended Learning in Dentistry at King’s College London and NHS Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the King’s College London Dental Institute at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Hospitals. Specialist in Prosthodontics and in Restorative Dentistry.

Brian has almost 35 years experience in clinical practice and currently an active specialist clinician in both hospital and private practice, particularly in treating tooth wear, aesthetic and occlusal problems utilising MI philosophies where possible.

Aims

To train dentists in the use of composite to restore teeth, design and change smiles, repair worn and damaged teeth, protect teeth and treat occlusal problems using contemporary materials and techniques.


Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should be able to:

  1. Use composite and adhesives to repair damaged teeth.
  2. Understand techniques for the restoration of worn teeth.
  3. Select and use appropriate materials and bonding agents 
  4. Achieve aesthetic results while restoring teeth and smiles
  5. Obtain good posterior contacts with composite.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course delegates will:

  1. Be able to assess damaged teeth and select treatment options
  2. Use adhesives and composites to replace missing tooth tissue aesthetically and functionally, using bulk-fill, monolayer and multilayer techniques.
  3. Be able to replace missing tooth with a range of adhesive direct and indirect techniques
  4. Be able to decide when to use composite rather than ceramic.
