Description | A whole day course for the dental team or individual members of the team on this increasingly important topic. The course will be led by Adam Porter a General Dental Practitioner from Cardiff who is also a professionally trained actor with the aid of another actor for simulation role playing. Adam has been running these courses since 2006 with groups of actors and has been all over the country gaining positive feedback from all courses. | ||

Aims | 1- To improve confidence when dealing with aggressive or assertive individuals 2- To improve communication skills and body language. 3- To improve empathy with patients and staff. 4- To provide interactive exercises to stimulate discussion about professional behaviour and responsibilities. 5- To illustrate, using actors, of the consent process working well, and failing. | ||
Objectives | 1- Participants will have strategies to deal with consent issues which can arise in dental practice. 2- Participants will be better prepared to deal with conflict and difficult conversations when they arise in practice. | ||
Learning outcomes | By the end of the course participants should feel more confident in dealing with tricky situations in practice and have strategies in place for helping in these situations. | ||
