DescriptionThis course will cover the evidence base behind the use of preformed metal crowns. There will be a practical table top element where all delegates will have the opportunity to place preformed metal crowns on models and practice handling, sizing and crimping crowns. This course will be most suitable for dentists and therapists and will be a small group with plenty of opportunity for questions in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. It is a repeat of the course held in Bristol in October 2021.

Registration is at 14.30 and the course will run from 15.00-17.00

This course will be repeated in Exeter and Bristol later this year.

Aims

The aim of this course is to improve understanding of the scientific basis behind preformed metal crowns and  to provide an opportunity to practice preformed metal crown placement on models.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should:

  1. be able to describe the the scientific basis, indications and contraindication for preformed metal crowns
  2. be able to explain the procedure to place preformed metal crowns
  3. recognise the complications that they could encounter after restoring a primary molar with a preformed metal crown
  4. have practiced placement of preformed metal crowns on models
Learning outcomes

By the end of this course:

Delegates should have improved knowledge regarding case selection for preformed metal crowns, including tooth factors and patient factors.

 

Delegates should have improved confidence with the practical technique for placement of preformed metal crowns in order to deliver high quality care for their paediatric patients.
