DescriptionThis course will provide an overview of basic minor oral surgery using models and synthetic skin for hands on practice of undertaking extractions, suturing and flap design. It is an opportunity for those of us who lack confidence/experience to learn from Caroline and Manuel in a friendly and supportive environment. We will be covering instrument selection, the principles of flap design and tooth sectioning, what to do if a tooth breaks during extraction, and suturing technique. This is an interactive course, with plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
Additional information

This course is aimed at dentists who would like to become more confident with basic oral surgery.  It is not a suitable course for those wishing to extend their skills.

Aims

To equip general dental practitioners with the skills and knowledge to safely undertake appropriate basic minor oral surgery in practice.

Objectives

Following the course, participants will:

1.  Be able to choose and correctly use appropriate instruments

2.  Understand the basic principles of flap design and tooth sectioning

3.  Assess whether a broken root should be surgically removed or left in situ

4.  Demonstrate the basic techniques of suturing
